Meet Our Team

I am a lifelong resident of the area, I grew up near Fredericktown and after graduation I moved to Farmington where I currently live. I’m married with two grown children. Like most parents I got involved in coaching basketball to give my kids an opportunity to play the game and learn the unique qualities that come along with being a part of a team. I started coaching in 1999 with a group of 3rd grade boys in the local league being organized by the Mineral Area Sports Club and unfortunately at that time my team had to play 5th & 6th grade girls because there wasn’t enough teams in the league, so I started to get more involved and was eventually elected president of the organization in 2001 with less than 25 teams participating in the local league, I’m happy to say that we’ve grown that number to currently having close to 100 teams in 2021. With the increased involvement of area youth, I started to envision opportunities for our better players to play locally year round so in 2013, I started Magic Basketball Academy, a non-profit organization created to provide opportunities to our local youth athletes. I am blessed to live in a community where so many people support this organization. MBA has helped provide opportunities for over 50 local athletes to secure college scholarships and go onto win in the game of life. I’m honored to be a part of the foundation that has been built in the Mineral Area for youth sports and can only imagine what the future holds for the young people in this area because of the efforts of so many before me.

Hello! My name is Adam Barton, and I am a lifelong resident of the Mineral Area. I currently reside in Farmington, MO. with my wife Jessica and our four children: Harrison, 9; Emily, 6; Miles and Mason, 2. I have spent the better part of my life playing or coaching basketball. I have coached both girl’s and boy’s basketball at various levels. For roughly the last 12 years, I have coached high school basketball where I spent time as the varsity girl’s coach at Fredericktown High School and the varsity boy’s coach at Central High School. Most recently I served as the assistant women’s coach at Mineral Area College. I have built many relationships with people over the years through basketball. I have coached dozens of players and seen many of them grow up to be successful adults. With four young children of my own, I have decided to set my sights on developing our youth programs in the Mineral Area. As a former high school coach, I can tell you that success at the high school level is always accompanied by a strong youth program.

My name is Dustin Jenkerson and I live in Farmington with my wife and three daughters. I grew up in the Mineral Area, playing basketball throughout high school and in college. I coached basketball for eight years in the Central School District, four at the middle school and four at the high school.
I have worked with several AAU teams in the area over the last four years and enjoy helping players develop their skills to be successful on the court. I love being around sports and helping kids find their passion and desire through sports. Being a part of the Magic Basketball Academy is a great way to continue providing these opportunities for young players in our area. |

I grew up in the Mineral Area and currently reside in Bonne Terre, MO with my amazing wife Kelli and our three kids. (Owen 11, Drake 8, Quinn 6) I am a Software Engineer by day, youth sports coach by night. I learned invaluable lessons growing up playing sports and attribute a lot of those learnings to my parents and coaches. I value Magic Basketball Academy for their established platform as it allows our local youth to participate in organized basketball events that challenge kids to work hard, work with others to achieve goals, and provides an opportunity for social skill development. Strong youth programs are only as strong as those who commit and contribute their time, energy, and passion for the game which is why I am excited to be apart of this organization and team of other highly motivated individuals.

I graduated from and played in Fredericktown, MO. I have coached at St. Joseph School in Farmington since 2013 and coached for Magic Basketball Academy. What excites me most about Magic Basketball Academy is the opportunity to reach local kids and give them the chance to grow, mature and develop priceless life skills through basketball.
